Five must-have boots of the season

Faux-fur or shearling lined boots

Who doesn’t want to wear a pair of warm, cosy faux-fur or shearling lined boots this winter? Not only are these comfy and practical, they look divine too. Whether knee- or ankle-length these boots are extremely covetable. They are casual boots by anyone’s standards, but can be worn with skirts and dresses or jeans and trousers. Light brown colours in leather or suede are best.

Riding boots

Stylish and sophisticated the riding boot is a real winner this season. Again these look great with skirts or trousers, but unlike the faux-fur lined boots above, these are suitable for more formal occasions too. Knee-high is best and look for military inspired styles with buckles and straps. Black, brown or burgundy are the most optimal colour options.

Lace-up ankle boots

Akin to work boots from the Victorian era, these lace-up leather boots are great with skinny jeans. Look for brogueing detaining and simplistic styling. Again, the best colours are brown and black and the more masculine looking the better. A slightly worn effect looks stylish too.

Chelsea boots

Whether flat or heeled Chelsea boots are very much en vogue this season. The elasticated gusset can be detailed or plain and the heel height can vary greatly. One thing is for sure however; leather and suede are best and stick to autumnal hues of warm reds, oranges, mustards, greens and deep blues and purples. Work with a pair of coloured skinnies or a mini dress and coloured tights.

Suede shoe boots

It seems shoe boots are here to stay and it’s not hard to see why. They are wearable and stylish at the same time, offering the perfect compromise between court shoes and ankle boots so you can effectively wear sassy heeled shoes right through winter without having to resort to ankle boots and a dress or risk getting frostbite on your toes. To add a touch of glamour, go for suede shoe boots and inject colour with some purple, green or blue.

Venus panel boots by Selve comes in three different colours - military, dark brown and bordeaux. And I can see the military colour colour working so well with grey , black and even brown outfit. The top looks wide enough to wear over jeans but also slim enough to wear over tights or leggings. The heel is not pointy but flattering and low enough to walk in. It’s a casual / dressy boot which means that you can dress them up or down as required. In other words, they are pretty versatile but not pretty affordable at £550.

These red suede boots can be worn over skinny jeans or sometimes alone. Though, I have to admit that bright red suede is probably not the colour I would personally go for If I was to choose knee high boot. Initially priced at €380, it has been reduced to €190.
